THE START OF A NEW ISO 9001 & 14001 IMPLEMENTATION JOURNEY

It's pleasing to reflect on a satisfying week last week, supporting an existing client with their annual Management Review and partnering with a new UK manufacturer at the start of their ISO 9001 (Quality) & 14001 (Environmental) Management System implementation.

For the new client, we loved their reaction when introduced to suggested document templates for helpful record keeping. Records that support their operation and also meet ISO standard requirements.

When discussing Clause 8 (Operation) and specifically 8.1 (Operational Planning and Control, with the evidencing of equipment maintenance and inspections), an introduction to a potential Maintenance & Calibration Record resulted in what sounded like a sense of relief, accompanied by “This will help with sleepless nights!”  A response that confirms this is worthwhile work!

In a previous post, we mentioned the value of ISO standards drawing attention to the need for legal compliance, such as effective equipment and vehicle management. Ensuring they are well-maintained, calibrated and inspected enables the safe and consistent delivery of quality products and services. This is a business responsibility that was evidently proving to be a challenge.

It's one of the many highlights we witness when taking a Quality & Environmental Management System approach. Business benefits that can be achieved regardless of whether ISO 9001, or 14001 certification is the objective.
