Performing Teams

Performing Teams 's Image

High-performing teams are clearly an essential aspect of any successful business, contributing to the delivery of quality products and services. They also enable leaders to focus on strategic aspects of the business (working ‘on the business’), rather than getting caught up in the day-to-day operation (working ‘in the business’).

There are a number of simple and effective processes that can support effective leadership behaviours to unlock a team’s potential, that are not only of benefit to the organisation, but also to each individual. Setting a clear team purpose with defined roles, responsibilities and ways of working, that instil a sense of accountability, provide motivation and enable a sense of achievement. Positive experiences that may hopefully also be accompanied by feelings of happiness, well-being and fulfilment along the way, which are conducive for an engaged and productive team. A team that is more likely to collaborate and achieve their goals.

A Quality Management System (QMS) approach provides an effective framework to help enable such an environment. Here are some examples how:

  • clarifying roles & responsibilities
  • providing the appropriate resources & working conditions to operate successfully
  • documenting processes, procedures & best practice
  • empowering teams with training & development opportunities
  • increasing awareness & engagement, with effective communication

All positively impacting; the teams’ ability to perform at their best with the appropriate resources, avoiding any misunderstanding of expectations, leading to personal growth, also influencing team engagement and collaboration.
