“Recently, our Managing Director was questioning areas of stock loss. Thanks to the tracking and trend analysis of non-conformances we were able to provide some insight.”

The auditor was impressed as it demonstrated an appreciation of the value of capturing actionable data that was leading to informed decision making and tighter controls.

On a later occasion, in a LinkedIn QMS Q&A post, a service provider highlighted how: 

“Logging positive feedback, issues and improvements has had noticeable benefits. Internally, capturing valuable information and ideas across our whole team has increased team engagement, as well as driving business improvements.”

It is encouraging to hear of these benefits based on business experiences. Of all the many helpful management tools available, we highly recommend this activity, irrespective of whether a QMS and ISO 9001 certification is being pursued. 

Sharing insights and celebrating the benefits may motivate others to enhance or embed their management systems and reap some of the rewards. When faced with internal and external challenges it may feel difficult at times. An effective Quality and Environmental Management System should complement and enable the achievement of business goals, through value-adding initiatives.
