This week, during an ISO 9001 Quality Management System (QMS) Management Review, it was pleasing to hear a manager reflect on the benefit of their recently introduced Nonconformance Log (also known as an Issue Log). This log is used to record and track internal and external issues, as well as complaints - incidents that may have impacted operations, or possibly a customer/client.
The manager appreciated the value of this information and how it was influencing action. When the information is displayed “in black and white”, it compels you to look further and possibly identify and resolve the root cause, increasing accountability.
